Sabine Street Lofts

Comments Off

Sabine Street Lofts is the sister property to the lesser expensive Lofts at the Ballpark.  Sabine Street Lofts is located on the more exclusive west side of downtown on the other side of Interstate 45.  The biggest problem with the property is its awkward location.  The building is only accessible by two surface streets and not easily accessible by Memorial or I-45.  The other common complaints is its proximity to an inner city recreation center which has resulted in several car thefts and break-ins at Sabine Street Lofts.  The property is “soft,” meaning that it is a new construction building built in loft decor.  One can expect to spend $1100 dollars for a 1-1 here and get real granite instead of the fake stuff at its sister property.

The Lofts at the Ballpark

Comments Off

The Lofts at the Ballpark is a soft loft property east of Downtown Houston on the other side of 59.  It is not the most ideal location but the lower prices usually reflect that.  The Lofts at the Ballpark is basically an apartment dressed up as a loft.  There is concrete flooring (some more expensive units have hardwoods), exposed duct work, brick accent walls, black on black appliances, etc.  The Lofts at the Ballpark is pretty solid property meaning that myself or the agents at ApartmentWIZ do not hear many complaints from former tenants.  This is a good property if you are looking for an apartment with good amenities designed in loft like style.

Alexan Lofts

Comments Off

Alexan lofts are the cheapest “true” lofts in the city.  There is a reason for this, however.  The property is located in a sketchy area in the east side of Downtown Houston.  Alexan lofts is actually located directly next to project housing and a park known for housing transients.  In fact, the first time I was showing the property a crack head jumped out of the bushes during the tour.  There is also a train the goes by the property consistently.  OK, so here are the good things about Alexan lofts.  The property has real hardwoods, granite, and legit loft finishes.  It is gated and has covered garage parking so the buildings are secure (There is actually a HPD substation on the property).  It is downtown and it is cheap–you are not going to find cheaper than $800 for this type of property.  The building is actually a Federally designated historic building and there was a music video there as well as several weddings.
