Where Not to Live in the Medical Center |
Apartments to Avoid in the Houston Medical Center |
- 7100 Almeda
Broken equipment and appliances, rampant leaks, outdated amenities, sparse security, and a problematic roach infestation are among the many reasons to not live in these apartments. To add to the list, the flooring is succumbing to wear and tear and has started rotting due to the lack of maintenance and repair.
On top of these problems, the slow moving management team at 7100 Almeda makes the stay a disappointing experience. The rising rent only adds more fuel to the blazing fire of reasons to not live at this complex. Many residents decide to move to other properties near the Houston Medical Center as soon as their lease completes.
- 2600 Gramercy Park
A well-known issue among the residents at this apartment complex is the lack of security provided by management. The gated security system that allows residents into the property does not work properly, and according to residents there has been a large hole in the fence that allowed people to enter with ease. This also gave people the opportunity to enter the community and steal items, which has occurred at such a frequent rate that some residents have been victims of theft twice while staying at Gramercy Park.
Furthermore, some residents expected their move-in to be a fresh and welcoming experience, but unfortunately they were greeted by a lack of appliances promised in their leases like refrigerators, washer/dryer units, and AC/heating. One final blow to Gramercy Park’s reputation is their unprofessional management staff that decided to disappear for 3 weeks and left many tenants without support for their needs. Customer service and response time is one of the most important factors when choosing an apartment, but Gramercy Park fails to meet the tenants’ needs; thus, it is wise to look at other apartments near the Medical Center or inner-loop of Houston.
- The Crossings at Kirby
This apartment complex in the Houston Medical Center has been plagued with an unresponsive management team that, according to many tenants, is apathetic toward residents. Residents mentioned that to resolve issues, they had to constantly contact the unfriendly staff to make them act on complaints. Another problem is that the parking lot has a flooding problem any time it rains, thus residents have to walk through water to reach their cars and even risk losing their cars in the pools of water that form in the parking lot.
Finally, the constantly increasing rent price is considered unreasonable for many tenants since they believe that they are not getting what they pay for. In addition to high rent, the lack of insulation at this apartment complex results in high utility bills. Our clients feel there are better apartments in and around the Houston Medical Center.
